The rear axle is removed to replace it when all parts are completely worn out, when partial repairs become impractical, or to replace the beam if it is damaged
You will need: wrench for wheel nuts, wrenches "for 10", "for 12", "for 13", "for 14", "for 15", "for 17", "for 19", a hex wrench " 12", a large screwdriver or a mounting spatula, pliers, a jack.
Mount the vehicle on a pit or lift.
Put the parking brake lever down.
Loosen the rear wheel nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, remove the wheel nuts and remove the rear wheels.
Drain the oil from the rear axle housing (see "Changing the rear axle oil").
Disconnect the rear parking brake cable from the guide
Remove the cable sheath from the two brackets on the underbody (see Replacing the rear parking brake cable).
Disconnect the flange of the rear driveshaft from the drive gear flange of the rear axle reduction gear (see "Removing and installing the driveline").
Remove the nut of the pressure regulator lever strut mounting bolt and disconnect the strut from the rear axle bracket.
Disconnect the brake hoses from the rear axle pipes (see Replacing hoses).
Take measures to prevent leakage of brake fluid by plugging the hose opening with improvised means (for example, a wooden plug).
Place supports under the bridge beam and lower the car on them, slightly loading the suspension
Disconnect the lower ends of the shock absorbers (see "Replacing the rear shock absorber").
Remove the rear suspension springs (see Replacing the rear suspension spring).
Unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the left upper longitudinal rod to the axle beam, remove the bolt and disconnect the rod from the axle beam (see "Removing and installing the rear suspension longitudinal rods").
Similarly, disconnect the lower longitudinal rod and the right longitudinal rods from the bridge beam.
Remove the nut of the bolt securing the transverse rod to the axle beam, remove the bolt and disconnect the rod from the axle beam
Fix the rod by securing it, for example with wire, to the pressure regulator drive lever.
Raise the vehicle. The rear axle will remain on the supports.
