We remove the generator from the car, as described in previous articles
We disassemble the generator to check or replace parts
Press out the plastic lid holders
Remove the plastic cover of the generator
Disconnect the two blocks of wires of the voltage regulator from the terminals of the rectifier unit
With a 6 head, unscrew the two bolts securing the voltage regulator
Remove the voltage regulator and disconnect the wire block from the output of the voltage regulator
With a head of 8, unscrew the four bolts securing the rectifier unit
Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the screw securing the capacitor
Remove the rectifier
We mark with a felt-tip pen the relative position of the stator and the covers of the generator
With a head of 8, we unscrew the four bolts tightening the generator covers
Pry off the back cover of the generator with a screwdriver
Remove the back cover of the generator
You can pry off the lid with a plastic-headed hammer or mallet
Remove the plastic bearing sleeve from the rear cover
We put a 24 head with a knob on the pulley fastening nut
Holding the rotor from turning the generator with your hand, strike the crank with a hammer and unscrew the pulley fastening nut
Remove the spring washer
Remove the pulley
We push the rotor shaft out of the front bearing ika and remove the front cover
If the rotor shaft cannot be pushed out of the bearing, press the rotor out of the front cover of the generator with a puller
The front bearing can only be replaced when assembled with the alternator front cover.
It is pressed and rolled into the lid
Of course, if you try, you can replace it
To replace the rear bearing with a two-jaw puller, press the bearing off the rotor shaft
When performing this operation, the puller must rest exactly on the center of the shaft so as not to damage the plastic insulator of the slip rings of the rotor
Use a screwdriver to pry the stator evenly from different sides
Remove the stator from the front cover of the generator
Assembling the generator in reverse order
To install the rear bearing, we rest the front end of the rotor shaft on a wooden block and press the bearing onto the rear end of the shaft with a suitable head, applying force only to the inner bearing ring
To assemble the stator with the back cover, insert the stator into the front cover
We install the back cover on the stator, and evenly tightening the coupling bolts, we press the stator into the front cover.
