The pendulum arm is removed for repair or replacement if damaged. Work is more convenient to do on a lift
You can also perform it on a car mounted on supports.
You will need: wrenches "for 17", "for 22", a puller for pressing out the ball joint pin, pliers.
Disconnect the pins of the ball joints of the right side and middle steering rods from the pendulum lever (see "Replacing the steering rods").
Remove the two bolts securing the swing arm bracket to the side member while holding the bolt nuts
Remove the nuts, remove the bolts of the arm bracket
Remove the lever from the vehicle.
Install the pendulum arm in the reverse order of removal
Disassembly, troubleshooting and assembly of the pendulum arm
The pendulum arm is dismantled to replace damaged or worn parts.
You will need: a key "19", a special puller.
Remove the protective cap of the pendulum axle.
Remove the upper arm axle nut.
Please note that there is a flat washer under the nut.
Don't forget to set it when building.
Remove the nut securing the lever to the axle.
Knock out the lever axle together with the lower bearing with gentle hammer blows.
In order not to damage the threads of the pendulum arm axle, screw the nut flush with the end of the axle.
Remove the axle from the bracket.
If necessary, press the pendulum arm off the axle with a puller.
Remove the pendulum arm, spacer and lower bearing from the axle
Using a suitable drift, drive the upper bearing out of the bracket
Check the condition of the pendulum arm and its shaft. The lever should not have bends, and the axis of the levera - traces of visible wear.
Axle bearings should not have backlash and local wear of the cage tracks.
The pendulum arm bracket must not be cracked, deformed, etc.
Assemble the pendulum arm in the reverse order of disassembly.
When pressing the bearing into the bracket, apply force only to its outer race, and when pressing onto the axle - to the inner race. Otherwise, the bearings will be damaged.
