We check and inspect the brake pressure regulator after 30,000 km
We install the car on a viewing ditch or a lift.
Work should be done together with an assistant.
First of all, we examine the regulator and its drive.
We clean and wash the parts from dirt.
The brake fluid inlet and outlet pipes must be undamaged, there must be no leaks either from the pipes or from the rubber boot.
There is a plug in the opening of the regulator body, it must be recessed by 1-2 mm. If this is not the case, then the regulator is faulty.
We take the lever with our hand and check for backlash in the connection of the lever with the rod and the axis of the regulator drive lever.
There should be no backlash.
If there are backlashes somewhere, you need to decide and replace the corresponding parts.
We ask the assistant to press the brake pedal.
The pressure regulator piston should move out of the regulator body by 1.6-2.4 mm, compressing the spring.
If when you press the pedal, the regulator piston does not move, or moves by more or less than 1.6-2.4 mm, the regulator or its drive is faulty
Adjusting the governor drive
If the rear suspension was replaced on the car or work related to the replacement of suspension units, then you need to check the adjustment of the governor drive.
To adjust, you need to hang the rear axle of the car.
Using a 10 wrench, unscrew the nut of the bolt that secures the tip of the elastic regulator lever to the rear axle bracket rod. With the second key, we keep the bolt from turning.
We take out the bolt and disconnect the elastic lever of the regulator drive from the rod of the rear axle bracket.
Loosen the locknut with a 10 wrench, keeping the bolt from turning.
Raising or lowering the end of the elastic lever, set it at a distance of 200 ± 5 mm from the floor of the body.
We measure the distance with a ruler, the end of which rests on the floor of the body.
In order to fix the lever at the desired distance, we insert a wooden block of the required length between it and the rear axle beam.
Holding the elastic lever in this position, turn the adjusting bolt with a 10 wrench until it touches the piston lever 1 so as to ensure contact between the regulator drive lever 2, into which the adjusting bolt is screwed, and the spring 3.
After that, tighten the locknut of the adjusting bolt.
We connect the elastic lever of the regulator drive with the rod on the rear axle beam.
With a properly adjusted adjuster, the front brakes should lock slightly ahead of the rear wheels.
