The brake pads of the front wheels must be replaced when the linings are worn (the minimum allowable thickness of the friction linings is 1.0 mm), the linings are not firmly connected to the base, the working surfaces are oiled and deep grooves or chips
The front brake pads have wear indicators
When the minimum thickness of the pads is reached, the wear indicator contacts the brake disc during braking, causing a squeak, signaling the approach of the wear limit of the brake pads
You need to replace the brake pads in a set - four pieces (two on each side)
Before changing the brake pads, check the brake fluid level.
If the level is close to the “max” mark, you need to pump out part of the liquid with a syringe or a pear, because after replacing the worn pads with new ones, the level will rise
We prepare the car and remove the wheel from the side of the work performed
We unscrew the two bolts of the caliper guide fingers, holding the fingers from turning with the second key
Remove the caliper from the guide pads and fix it to the side by tying it with wire to the shock absorber
Remove the two pad pressure springs
Remove the inner and outer brake pads
Remove the top and bottom pad support plates from the shoe guide
Check the condition of the rubber covers of the guide pins and the movement of the caliper relative to the guide of the brake pads
If movement is difficult, grease the caliper guide pins with grease.
To do this, remove the guide pin and lubricate with grease
We put the grease in protective covers
Install the brake pads and apply grease to their surface
Installing the brake pads
To prevent self-loosening of the caliper guide pin mounting bolts, lubricate their threads with an anaerobic thread locker before installation
We press the brake pedal several times to bring the brake pads to the disc
Installing the wheel
In the same way, we replace the brake pads of the other wheel
Check and, if necessary, restore the brake fluid level in the reservoir of the master brake cylinder
After replacing the brake pads, we check the braking efficiency
