Checking the position of the automatic transmission shift lever
When moving the shift lever to each position, make sure the shift lever moves smoothly and the shift indicator is working properly
Range in which you can move the lever without pressing the button on the lever handle: R–N–D, L–2–D–N.
Range in which the lever can only be moved while the button on the lever handle is pressed: D–2–L, N–R–P.
The range in which the lever can only be moved when the button on the lever handle is pressed and the brake pedal is depressed, and the ignition key must be in the ON position: P–R.
Start the engine and check that the vehicle moves forward when the lever is moved from N to D and moves backward when the lever is moved to R.
Adjusting the position of the shift lever
Loosen the nut on the control shaft lever (fig. 2).
Move the control shaft down as far as it will go.
Move the control shaft lever 2 clicks to the N position.
Place the shift lever in the N position.
While pushing the gear lever lightly towards R, tighten the gear lever nut (fig. 3).
Tightening torque: 14.7 Nm.
Start the engine and check that the vehicle moves forward when the lever is moved from N to D and moves backward when the lever is moved to R
