Checking the parking-neutral position switch for automatic transmission
Apply the parking brake and turn the ignition key to the ON position
Depress the brake pedal and check that the engine can only be started when the shift lever is in N or P.
Check that the reverse light comes on and the reverse warning buzzer sounds only when the shift lever is in R.
If there is a problem, check the park/neutral position switch circuit for continuity.
Park/neutral switch adjustment
Loosen the 2 parking/neutral switch mounting bolts and place the shift lever in the N position.
Align the groove with the neutral base line (fig. 1).
While holding the switch in place, tighten the 2 bolts.
Tightening torque: 5.4 Nm.
After adjusting, perform the test described at the beginning.
