Fluid Type: Toyota Genuine ATF (Toyota Genuine Automatic Transmission Fluid) Type T-IV
Change automatic transmission fluid only when necessary.
When changing the automatic transmission fluid, be sure to use "Toyota Genuine ATF (Toyota Genuine Automatic Transmission Fluid) Type T-IV" (ATF JWS3309 or NWS6500) for optimum performance.
Using an automatic transmission fluid other than "Toyota Genuine ATF (Toyota Genuine Automatic Transmission Fluid) Type T-IV" may result in poor shifting, transmission lockup with vibration, and eventually , to damage the automatic transmission of the car.
Checking the automatic transmission fluid
Drive the vehicle to allow the engine and transmission to warm up to normal operating temperature.

Liquid temperature: 70–80 °C.

Stop the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake.
With the engine idling, with the brake pedal depressed, move the shift lever alternately to all positions from P to L and return to position P.
Remove the dipstick and clean it.

Insert the probe completely into the tube.
Remove the dipstick and check that the liquid level corresponds to the HOT position (fig. 1).
If there are leaks, repair or replace O-rings, seals, plugs or other parts.
