The cooling fans are driven by two permanent magnet-excited DC motors

The engine management system controller controls the operation of the fans

The engine cooling fan motors are maintenance-free. In case of failure, replace them with new ones.

To check the health of the electric motors, use the data from the table. 1.

Fig. 1. Scheme of switching on the electric motors of the fans of the cooling system: 1 - right electric motor of the fan of the engine cooling system; 2 - additional relay; 3 - fuse; 4 - additional resistor; 5 - relay for turning on the right electric motor; 6 - left electric motor of the fan of the engine cooling system; 7 - relay for turning on the left electric motor; A - to the negative terminal of the battery; B - to the main relay; C - to the positive terminal of the battery

Data for checking the electric motors of the fans of the engine cooling system

Rated shaft speed when the motor is loaded with an impeller - 2600-2800 min -1;

Consumed current at the specified load and speed, no more than 25 A

The controller controls the relay for turning on the electric fans of the engine cooling system. The electric fans turn on and off depending on the engine temperature.

The electric circuit of the cooling system fans for the ME17.9.71 Niva Chevrolet EURO-5 controller: 1 - left engine cooling fan; 2 - to the main relay; 3 - left fan relay; 4 - controller; 5 - relay 2 fan control output; 6 - control output of relay 1 fan; 7 - right fan relay; 8 - additional relay; 9 - to the battery plus terminal; 10 - right fan of the engine cooling system; 11 - to the negative terminal of the battery

The diagram in Figure 2 is given for the ME17.9.71 Niva Chevrolet EURO-5 controller

Electric fans operate in two modes - with maximum performance (parallel connection) and with reduced performance (series connection) (Fig. 2).

The reduced performance of the electric fans turns on when the coolant temperature is above 99 ° C, as well as if there are DTOZH fault codes in the controller memory or when the air conditioner is running.

Electric fans are switched on sequentially through an additional relay.

An additional relay is controlled from the contact "X1/41" of the controller.

The reduced performance of the electric fans is turned off after the coolant temperature drops below 94 ° C.

The maximum performance of the electric fans turns on when the coolant temperature is above 101 ° C, as well as at high refrigerant pressure in the line, both with the air conditioner running and the air conditioner not running.

Electric fans are switched on in parallel through an additional relay, the right electric fan relay and the left electric fan relay.

An additional relay is controlled from the contact "X1/41" of the controller.

The control of the relay of the electric fan of the right and the relay of the electric fan of the left is carried out from the contact "X1 / 52" of the controller.

The maximum performance of the electric fans is turned off after the coolant temperature drops below 95 ° C.

If DTOZH DTCs are active, the cooling fans will run until the codes are cleared or the engine is stopped.

Replacing the electric motor
