We remove the block to replace the failed damper drive rods and backlight bulbs
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Pull out the handle of the air temperature regulator.
We also remove the knobs for the air distribution regulator and the fan operation mode switch.
Pry off the plastic handle with a screwdriver
Remove the handle of the air recirculation control lever
Pry off the block facing with a screwdriver
Remove the cladding and unscrew the two screws securing the block with a Phillips screwdriver
We remove the unit from the instrument panel and disconnect the wire block from the fan mode switch
Disconnect the block of wires from the lamp socket of the backlight of the unit
We pry off with a screwdriver and remove the fastening bracket of the recirculation damper drive rod shell.
We pry the rod from the recirculation drive lever with a screwdriver
Disconnect the recirculation damper drive rod.
We also disconnect the rods from the temperature controller and air distribution.
To replace the backlight with pliers, turn the lamp socket counterclockwise and remove the lamp socket from the block
Remove the lamp from the socket
Install the lamp and block in reverse order.
