The main malfunctions, for which it is necessary to remove the gearbox from the car:
- - increased (compared to usual) noise; - difficult gear shifting;
- - spontaneous switching off or fuzzy switching on of gears;
- - oil leakage through seals and gaskets.
In addition, the gearbox must be removed to replace the clutch, front bearing of the gearbox input shaft, flywheel and rear engine crankshaft oil seal.
The work of removing and installing the gearbox is very laborious, so first make sure that its malfunctions are not caused by other reasons (insufficient oil level, defects in the clutch drive, loosening of the gearbox and its covers, etc.).
You will need: "10", "13" keys, "12" hexagon, screwdriver, pliers.
Mount the vehicle on a pit or lift.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Drain the gearbox oil

Disconnect the wire plug from the reverse switch
We unscrew the bolts of the clutch slave cylinder bracket
Leave the cylinder aside without disconnecting the hydraulic hose
We substitute the adjustable stop under the gearbox
Remove the gear selector control drive
Unscrew the bolts securing the starter to the clutch housing
Using a 10 key, unscrew the two bolts securing the clutch housing cover
Using a 19-head with an extension, unscrew the bolt of the lower left mounting of the gearbox to the engine block
Unscrew the bolt of the lower right mount
Using a 19 head with a universal joint and an extension, unscrew the bolt of the upper left mounting of the gearbox to the cylinder block
We also unscrew the bolt of the upper right fastening of the box
Remove the cross member with the rear support of the power unit
We take the gearbox away from the engine, removing the input shaft from the hub of the clutch disc
Remove the gearbox
Install the gearbox in reverse order.
Check and, if necessary, adjust the gearshift control actuator.
