The brake caliper is replaced when the parts are significantly worn.
If the caliper cylinder jams, (the appearance of significant corrosion of the cylinder piston metal)
Remove the front brake hose (see Replacing the front brake hose).
Using the “10” key, unscrew the two bolts securing the kingpin cover
Remove the cover of the upper kingpin bearing with a grease fitting.
With a “19” head, we unscrew the two bolts securing the brake caliper
Temporarily put the kingpin bearing cover back in place so that dirt does not get into it.
Remove the bracket and remove the pads from it if you want to rearrange them to a new bracket.
Install the new caliper in the reverse order, and then install the brake pads into it (see Replacing the front wheel brake pads).
Install the brake hose (see Replacing the front brake hose).
After filling the system with brake fluid and bleeding it (see Bleeding the brake system, changing the brake fluid), we make sure that there are no fluid leaks at the joints and that the wheel brake mechanism works reliably.
