We replace the muffler and resonator in case of burnout, through corrosion or mechanical damage
In this case, in the first and second cases, it is better to replace the entire system assembly (except for the exhaust manifold).
It is better to work together on a viewing ditch or a lift.
We pre-clean all connections from dirt, tap them with a hammer and treat them with WD-40 grease or kerosene.
Using the “13” key, we unscrew the two nuts of the clamp securing the exhaust pipe to the muffler.
Remove the collar.
We take out the cotter pin with pliers and remove the washer securing the exhaust pipe to the rubber shock absorber.
We knock down the pipe through a wooden spacer
Disconnect the pipe from the muffler.
Remove the pipe bracket from the shock absorber and remove the pipe.
Removing another cotter pin with a washer, remove the rubber shock absorber from the body.
Using the “13” wrench, unscrew the nuts of the clamp securing the intermediate pipe to the muffler and remove the clamp
Similarly, remove the clamp that secures the intermediate pipe to the resonator
Through a wooden spacer we knock down the intermediate pipe from the resonator and muffler and remove it (on vehicles with a straight intermediate pipe, first remove the muffler).
With the keys "12" and "13" we unscrew the nuts of the front and rear clamps of the muffler.
Remove the muffler.
Remove the clamp that secures the front pipe to the resonator.
Using the “13” key, we unscrew the two nuts securing the rubber shock absorber of the resonator to the frame bracket.
Remove the spring and regular washers from the shock absorber studs.
Disconnect the intake pipe from the resonator and remove it.
Using the “13” key, unscrew the two nuts of the rubber shock absorber mounting bracket
Then, unbending, take out the cotter pin and washer.
Remove the resonator damper from the hook
Also, if necessary, we change the shock absorbers of the muffler suspension
When assembling, we cover all pipe connections and clamp threads with graphite grease.
First, we put the intermediate pipe on the resonator pipe.
Install the muffler with the seam down, guided by the recesses of the lower half rings of the clamps.
