Removing the starter

Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, starting with the negative terminal.

Remove the top engine covers.

Remove the battery

Unscrew the bolt securing the engine intake silencer and the air filter outlet duct (K4M engine).

Detach:

  • - a block of wires from the oil level sensor;

  • - blocks of wires from the starter.

Unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove the starter (fig. 5).

And remove the starter

Installation

Checking for the presence of the locating sleeve: 1 - locating sleeve

Check for the presence of the mounting sleeve (fig. 7).

The rest of the components are installed in the reverse order of removal.

Connect the wires to the battery terminals, starting with the positive terminal.

Torque tighten:

  • - starter mounting bolts (38 Nm);
  • - battery cover bolts (4 Nm).

Removing the F4R engine starter

Withdrawal

In order to remove the starter, you must remove the engine.

Remove the catalytic converter.

Remove the heat shield mounting bolts and remove it.

Remove the lower catalytic converter strut (fig. 1).

Disconnect the starter power wires.

Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the starter (Fig. 2).

Installation

Checking for the presence of the locating sleeve: 1 - locating sleeve

Check for the presence of the mounting sleeve (fig. 3).

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

Torque tighten:

  • - starter mounting bolts (38 Nm);
  • - catalytic converter lower strut mounting nut (21 Nm);
  • - heat shield mounting bolts (8.5 Nm).

Connect the wires to the battery terminals, starting with the positive terminal.
