The differential seal is replaced when oil leaks through the seal
Preparing the car and placing it on a lift or using a jack to raise the front of the car
Unscrew the plug of the hole for draining the working fluid, remove the seal and drain the working fluid from the automatic transmission
After draining the working fluid from the gearbox, replace the seal and tighten the drain plug
Remove the front wheel
Unlock and loosen the front wheel hub nut
Unscrew and detach the stabilizer link from the front strut bracket
If the ball joint of the stabilizer bar rotates with the nut, hold the joint with a 6 mm hex wrench
We unscrew the bolt, remove the retainer and disconnect the bracket for the speed sensor wiring harness and the front wheel brake hose from the front suspension strut
Disconnect the speed sensor wire holder
Unscrew the bolt and remove the wheel speed sensor
Disconnect the outer tie rod end as described in the article - How to replace Toyota Camry tie rod ends and tie rods
We unscrew the bolt, two nuts and disconnect the lower front suspension arm from the ball joint
Marking the position of the front drive relative to the front wheel hub
Finally unscrew the nut of the front wheel hub, move the telescopic strut to the side and remove the shank of the external constant-velocity joint from the hub
Using pliers, remove the snap ring from the hole in the bearing bracket of the constant velocity joint
Unscrew the bolt and remove the front wheel drive from the bracket
Using a special tool, we press out the inner hinge side gear drive
The retaining ring must be replaced every time the actuator is removed from the vehicle, otherwise the actuators may spontaneously detach from the gearbox while driving
The second drive is removed in almost the same way
Using a special tool, we remove the seal of the differential axle bearing separator
Lubricate the lip of the oil seal with multipurpose grease
Using a special tool and a hammer, install a new oil seal
To install the drive, first we insert the splined shank of the outer joint housing into the wheel hub, install the thrust washer and screw the hub nut until it stops, without completely tightening the nut
Then we insert the splined shank of the inner joint housing into the axle shaft seal and turn the drive shaft slightly so that the splines of the joint shank and the axle gear are aligned
We move the front suspension arm down and with a sharp movement of the shock strut with a steering knuckle we press the drive into the axle shaft gear until the drive is fixed with a retaining ring
We connect the ball bearings of the shock absorbers to the steering knuckles, and the steering rod joints to the levers of the steering knuckles
We install the brake hoses and wiring harnesses of the wheel speed sensors in their places
After installing all the parts, fill the working fluid into the automatic transmission
