We remove the steering knuckle to replace the hub bearing and to replace the steering knuckle itself
We prepare the car and raise the front part on supports, remove the wheel
Disconnect the tie rod from the steering knuckle arm
Unbend the wrinkled edge of the collar of the hub nut
Helper presses the brake pedal
Unscrew the hub nut
Remove the wheel speed sensor harness holder from the steering knuckle
Unscrew the ABS sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor from the hole in the steering knuckle
We unscrew the bolt securing the brake hose brackets and the ABS sensor harness
Remove both brackets from the shock strut
Remove the ABS sensor with the wiring harness from the rack and fix it
Remove the brake caliper without disconnecting the brake hose from it, and tie it to the front suspension spring
Remove the brake disc
We unscrew the bolt and unscrew the two nuts securing the ball joint to the lower arm of the front suspension
We unscrew the two nuts of the bolts securing the steering knuckle to the shock strut
We take out the bolts and remove the steering knuckle assembly with the hub and ball joint from the CV joint shank
Remove the cotter pin and unscrew the nut of the ball joint pin
Then we press the ball joint pin out of the steering knuckle using a ball joint puller
Install parts in reverse order
Tighten the ball joint pin fastening nut to a torque of 49 Nm, after which we tighten the nut until its slot coincides with the hole in the pin and install the cotter pin
We tighten the hub nut with a torque of 294 Nm, we tighten the collar of the nut
Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment
Replacing the front hub bearing
It is recommended to replace the bearings of both hubs at the same time
Remove the steering knuckle as described above
Remove the bearing dust cover from the steering knuckle by prying it with a screwdriver
Using a circlip plier, remove the hub bearing circlip
Fix the steering knuckle in a vise and press out the hub with an impact puller
Most likely, the outer half of the inner bearing ring will remain on the hub, which must be removed with a puller
Install the bearing puller, press out and remove the bearing from the hole in the steering knuckle
If there is no puller, we knock out the bearing using a mandrel of a suitable diameter
We clean the parts and lubricate the inner surface of the fist socket and the outer surface of the hub with a thin layer of Litol-24
We press the new bearing into the hole of the steering knuckle until it stops
We press the hub until it stops, resting the inner ring of the bearing on a suitable mandrel
Installing the hub bearing circlip and dust cover
Install the steering knuckle on the car in reverse order
