Checking sensor resistance

Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor connector

Remove the mounting bracket bolts and disconnect the ABS sensor

ABS rear wheel speed sensor: 1 - connector; 2 - bolts of mounting brackets; 3 - sensor

Check the resistance of the anti-lock braking system wheel speed sensor.

If the resistance is not correct, replace the anti-lock braking system wheel speed sensor. Resistance: 1.3-1.7 kOhm

Sensor connector

Voltage test

Put the car on a level surface, jack it up and lower it onto stands.

Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor connector.

Test each sensor while rotating each wheel at one revolution per second.

If the values are not correct, replace the anti-lock braking system wheel speed sensor. Voltage: 0.25-1.2V (AC).

Checking the sensor waveform

Put the car on a level surface, jack it up and lower it onto stands.

Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor connector.

Waveform test diagram: A - high speed; B - low speed

Using an oscilloscope, check the voltage waveform for distortion and noise as each wheel rotates (Figure 2).

If there is distortion or noise, check the anti-lock brake sensor rotor.
