Set the steering wheel to the position corresponding to the rectilinear movement of the car
Remove the driver's airbag module, for this:
We introduce two rods into two special holes located on the sides of the steering wheel at the same time and compress the spring clips for fastening the airbag module
At the same time, the assistant pulls the airbag module towards himself with his hands and retracts it with the horn switch from the steering wheel to the length of the wires
Turn the steering wheel to the position of the rectilinear movement of the car and pry off the retainer of the wiring harness block with a screwdriver
Remove the latch from the block
Disconnect the block from the airbag. Removing the airbag
Install the airbag after installing the steering wheel in reverse order
Mark the position of the steering wheel hub relative to the shaft
We unscrew the steering wheel mounting bolt, keeping the steering wheel from turning
It is not necessary to completely unscrew the bolt to avoid injury when the steering wheel is abruptly disconnected from the splines of the steering shaft.
With sharp blows of the hands along the axis of the steering shaft, we knock the steering wheel off the splined tip of the shaft
Completely unscrew the steering wheel bolt
Remove the steering wheel hub from the splines of the shaft and output the wire with the airbag block through the hole in the hub
And remove the steering wheel
In order not to damage the current-carrying bus of the contact ring of the airbag, we fix the ring from turning
To do this, insert a segment of a thin plate into a special groove on the outer circumference of the ring. A piece from the clamp is well suited for this.
Before installing the steering wheel, do not forget to remove the lock!
Install the steering wheel in reverse order.
We apply an anaerobic thread locker to the threads of the steering wheel mounting bolt. When installing the steering wheel, the bolt must be replaced.
Tighten the fastening bolt to 44 Nm.
Removing and installing steering column cover
We unscrew the two screws securing the casing, located on the bottom surface of the bottom casing
Pull up and remove the upper part of the casing
Remove the right side of the lower part of the casing from the ignition switch
Remove the latch of the lower part of the casing from engagement with the instrument panel and remove the lower part
Install the cover in reverse order
