Put the car on a two-post lift
Remove the top engine covers.
Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, starting with the negative terminal.
It is not necessary to drain the oil and remove the automatic transmission to remove the torque converter turbine speed and ground speed sensors.
Be sure to remove the modular connector when replacing the sensor.
Remove the engine undertray.
Remove the connector shown by the arrow in figure 2 from the gearbox bracket
Remove the torque converter turbine speed sensor.
Protect the connector from damage by packing it in a waterproof plastic bag.
Removing the speed sensor
Disconnect the sensor connector (fig. 4)
Remove the speed sensor (fig. 5)
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
Torque tighten:
Torque converter turbine speed sensor mounting bolt (10 Nm);
speed sensor mounting bolt (44 Nm).
Replacing wheel speed sensors
The wheel speed sensors provide information to the ABS hydro-electronic module about the speed, direction of travel and road conditions.
After the ignition is switched on, the control unit supplies voltage to the wheel speed sensors, which use the Hall effect.
They generate an output signal in the form of rectangular pulses that vary in proportion to the frequency of rotation of the encoder's pulse ring.
Based on this information, the control unit determines the optimal wheel braking mode.
The front wheel speed sensor is installed in the holes of the steering knuckles.
Removable with wiring harness.
To replace the front wheel sensors, we install the car on a lift or an inspection ditch.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the corresponding wheel.
Remove the front wheel liner.
Press out the fixing bracket
Remove the sensor from the opening in the steering knuckle
Remove the harness holder from the bracket fixed in the joints of the ball joint
Remove the harness holder from the front suspension arm
Disconnect the pads and remove the front wheel speed sensor assembly with the wire harness
The rear wheel speed sensor is installed in the rear suspension knuckle hole and is removed as an assembly from the bundle of wires.
To replace it, we raise the rear of the car and remove the corresponding wheel.
Press out the fixing bracket
Retrieve from the opening in the fist
Remove the wire harness from the body bracket
Press the pad lock
Disconnect the harness pads.
Remove the rear wheel speed sensor assembly with the wire harness.
Install the sensors in reverse order.
If the anti-lock brake system warning light does not go out when the vehicle is moving after replacing the wheel speed sensor, then the ABS system should be diagnosed.
