We replace shock absorbers in case of fluid leakage from shock absorbers, loss of performance and the presence of obvious defects
Shock absorbers should be replaced as a set for both sides.
Preparing the car for work. We install the car on a lift.
If the car is a five-seater R90, we set aside the lining of the rear wheel arches.
If the car is a seven-seater, then you need to expand the rear row of seats.
Remove the rear side armrests.
Remove the mounting parts and armrest brackets.
Remove the plugs 1, Figure 1, of the places where the shock absorbers are attached to the rear wheel arches. Remove the rear wheels.
We raise the car, place a stand under the rear suspension arm and lower the car until the spring starts to compress.
Lock the rod with a special wrench or a 6 wrench and unscrew the nut securing the shock absorber to the body with a 16 wrench.
Remove the washer.
Remove the upper damper pivot pad and damper pivot bushing.
With a 21 socket, unscrew the bolt, Figure 5, securing the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm and remove the shock absorber.
Remove the lower shock pivot pad and washer from the shock absorber rod.
Install
The shock absorber rod nut must be installed with a new one.
Also, the bolt of the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm must be replaced.
We install a washer, a lower cushion and a bushing of the shock absorber hinge on the shock absorber rod.
Place the shock absorber in the rear wheel arch, connect the shock absorber to the rear suspension arm and tighten, without tightening, a new mounting bolt (replaceable head 21, knob).
Insert the shock absorber rod into the wheel arch mounting hole, install the upper cushion of the shock absorber hinge, the washer on the rod and screw in a new fastening nut. Nut tightening torque 14 Nm (1.4 kgf.m).
Install the plugs of the places where the shock absorbers are attached to the rear wheel arches.
Repeat the removal and installation operations for the second shock absorber.
Installing the rear wheels.
Installing in place:
- - lining of the rear wheel arches;
- - storage compartment;
- - fastening details and armrest brackets;
- - rear side armrests.
The final tightening of the shock absorber mounting bolts to the rear suspension arms should be done with the car standing on wheels.
Finally tighten the bolts of the shock absorbers to the rear suspension arms.
The torque of the bolts is 105 Nm (10.5 kgf.m) (replaceable head 21, torque wrench).
