Installing the intake and exhaust camshafts of the rear head of the engine block 1-mzfe

Installing the intake camshaft of the rear head of the block

Apply a coat of engine oil to the end thrust surfaces of the camshaft

Engage the gears of the exhaust and intake camshafts, aligning the alignment marks (two points) on the gears with each other.

Install the intake camshaft onto the cylinder head (Figure 1).

Install the bearing caps according to the markings on their housings

Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the bearing cap bolts.

Install and evenly tighten the ten bearing cap bolts in several passes to a torque of 16 Nm in the sequence shown in figure 3.

Remove the technological bolt.

Apply a coat of engine oil to the end thrust surfaces of the camshaft.

Install the exhaust camshaft 90° from the position where the alignment marks (1 point) on the cylinder head align.

Apply grease to the new oil seal.

Install the oil seal on the camshaft.

Remove the old sealing material from the bearing cap.

Apply sealant to bearing cap #1.

Install the bearing caps according to the markings on their housings

Apply a light coat of engine oil to the threads and under the heads of the bearing cap bolts.

Install and evenly tighten the des Tighten the bearing cap bolts in several passes with a tightening torque of 16 Nm in the sequence shown in Figure 8.
