We remove the steering column for repair or replacement
In the steering column, we replace the shafts in the presence of the following defects:
- deformation or damage to the intermediate shaft, play in the cardan joint, damage to its terminal connections with the steering shaft and steering gear shaft;

- deformation or damage to the steering shaft;

- damage to the splines of the shaft connection with the steering wheel hub;

- damage to the steering column adjustment mechanism
Preparing the car and the necessary tools
Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal
Remove the steering wheel as described in the previous article
Remove the steering column cover, for this:

We unscrew the two screws securing the steering column covers


Overcoming the resistance of the latch, remove the lower and upper covers of the steering column

Disconnect the wire pads from the steering column switches

Remove the steering column switches

With a screwdriver, carefully pry off the edge of the lining and, having overcome the resistance of the holders, remove the front door threshold lining.

We unscrew the screw securing the front pillar lining

The arrows show the holders of the lower trim of the A-pillar

Remove the lower trim of the front pillar, overcoming the resistance of the holders

We unscrew the screw securing the left lower trim of the instrument panel

Remove the lining and set it aside

Press the latches and remove the diagnostic connector from the lining

Disconnect the tip of the lock drive cable from the hood lock handle

Remove the left instrument panel trim to the side

Disconnect the wire blocks from the control unit for rear-view mirrors and from the switch block of the headlight corrector and headlight washer

Remove the right trim of the instrument panel, overcoming the resistance of the holders
Disconnect the wire blocks from the ignition switch

We unscrew the coupling bolt of the clamp securing the steering shaft to the intermediate shaft, unclench the clamp slightly with a screwdriver

We unscrew the lower bolt of the steering column to the instrument panel amplifier

Before removing the steering column, mark the position of the intermediate shaft relative to the steering column

We unscrew the right nut securing the steering column to the instrument panel amplifier

Unscrew the left fastening nut


Remove the steering column by separating the intermediate shaft and the steering column shaft
Install parts in reverse order
