Keep in mind that the steering mechanism is the most important element in ensuring traffic safety.
Poor-quality repair of the mechanism can lead to serious consequences, therefore, if necessary, have it repaired only in a specialized workshop or replace it with a new one.
Replacing the steering gear is shown on the example of a hydraulic power steering gear, as this work is more laborious
You will need: keys "for 16", "for 17", "for 19". TORX T30. socket head "18", ball joint puller.
Put the vehicle on a pit and apply the parking brake.
Set the steering wheel to straight ahead
Loosen the right front wheel bolts.
Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands.
Remove the right front wheel and engine compartment mudguard.
In the passenger compartment under the instrument panel, unscrew the nut of the terminal bolt and disconnect the steering column from the shank of the steering gear shaft
Press out the pins of the ball joints of the tie rod ends from the lugs of the swing arms (see "Replacing the tie rod ends with Renault Logan").
Remove the pressure pipe fastening nut.
Pull the pipeline aside and remove the rubber o-ring
Remove the nut securing the drain pipe and move it to the side
Remove the rubber o-ring.
Take measures to prevent leakage of the working fluid from the pipelines by plugging them, for example, with wooden plugs.
Replace the rubber O-rings of the discharge and drain pipes with new ones every time you disconnect them.
Remove the two bolts securing the power unit rear suspension bracket and remove it.
Remove the two bolts securing the steering gear to the subframe.
Raise the power unit slightly and move the steering gear to the right.
Remove the steering gear from the vehicle. pulling it out through the opening in the niche of the right wheel
Press the latches with a screwdriver and remove the holder with the seal
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
When installing the steering gear, make sure that the rack is in the middle (neutral) position.
The tightening torque of the steering mechanism mounting bolts is 105 Nm (10.5 kgf-m), the bolt of the steering column terminal connection with the steering gear shaft shank is 21 Nm (2.1 kgf-m), the bolts of the rear support bracket of the power unit are 105 Nm (10.5 kgf-m).
Check and, if necessary, adjust the alignment of the front wheels at a specialist workshop.
