We replace the chain and gear of the oil pump drive as a result of wear. We also remove the drive chain and sprocket during engine overhaul
To complete the task, you will need: heads for 13, 16, 18, 10, TORX E14, a square wrench, a flat-blade screwdriver, a retainer for setting the TDC, a camshaft retainer, engine oil, an oil drain container.
Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
Drain the oil from the engine oil sump (see "Changing the engine oil and oil filter").
Remove the accessory drive belt (see Replacing the accessory drive belts).
Remove the timing belt (see "Replacing the timing belt and its tensioner")
Remove the oil sump (see "Replacing the oil sump gasket").
Remove the crankshaft gear (see "Replacing the crankshaft oil seals").
Remove the oil gauge guide.
Remove the six bolts and remove the front cover of the cylinder block.
Remove the oil pump (see Removing and installing the oil pump).
Remove the crankshaft gear
We unscrew the bolts of the crankshaft front cover
Pry off the front cover of the crankshaft with a screwdriver
Remove the cover
Remove the chain
Remove the oil pump drive sprocket
Install parts in reverse order
Before installing the front cover of the crankshaft, we clean the mating plane of the cylinder block
We clean the cover from the remnants of the old sealant. We replace the oil seal.
We apply sealant to the mating surface of the cover and install the cover
