We remove the rear suspension beam in case of its deformation or when removing the entire rear suspension
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch
We prepare tools: wrenches for 10, for 11, for 18, a socket for 18, screwdrivers, a spring compressor, a wheelbrace
The location of the parts of the rear beam is shown in Figure 1.
We raise the rear of the car if the car is on the inspection ditch.
Raise the car if the car is on a lift.
Remove the rear wheels.
Using a screwdriver to pry the piston securing the mudguard to the trailing arm bracket
Remove the piston
We unscrew and remove the bolt securing the mudguard to the trailing arm
Using a screwdriver to pry the piston securing the mudguard to the rear suspension beam
Remove the piston
Remove the mudguard from the rear suspension beam
We substitute the support (hydraulic strut or jack) under the rear suspension beam
Remove the shock absorber support from the trailing arm bracket (article - Replacing the rear shock absorber Renault Megan 2)
Remove the rear suspension spring (article - Replacing the Renault Megan 2 rear spring )
Remove the tip of the parking brake cable from the brake release lever
We take out the cable shell from the beam cavity (article - Replacing the Renault handbrake cable Megan 2)
Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt securing the silent block to the body bracket.
We also perform all the listed works on the other side.
Disconnect the wire blocks of the rear wheel speed sensors
Disconnect the brake system pipelines from the tips of the flexible hoses of the brake system (article - Replacing brake pipes Renault Megane 2)
Lowering the rear suspension beam
Install the rear suspension beam in reverse order
Torque tighten:
- - bracket mounting bolts (62 Nm);
- - bolts for fastening the shields of the brake mechanisms (80 Nm);
- - fittings of rigid pipelines on wheel cylinders (14 Nm);
- - fittings for rigid brake lines on hoses (14 Nm).
Install the parking brake cables.
Make sure the parking brake cable stoppers are correctly inserted into their sockets.
Install:
- - brake drums;
- -cups on springs;
- -springs in nests;
- - install wires and wheel speed sensors.
Connect the parking brake drive and control box wiring to the equalizer.
Put the hydraulic jack with pad into the spring cup.
Compress the rear suspension.
Tighten the lower shock absorber mounting bolts.
The final tightening of the shock absorber mounting bolts is done when the car is on wheels.
Install the rear wheels.
Lower lift.
Torque tighten:
- - nuts for the studs of the brake drums (175 Nm);
- - shock absorber lower mounting bolts (105 Nm);
- - wheel bolts (105 Nm).
Bleed air from the brake system.
