Setting the first piston cylinder to top dead center is necessary for various engine repairs
Preparing the car for work. We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch.
Remove the right front wheel.
Remove the right front wheel liner
We unscrew the four bolts securing the bracket of the front of the subframe to the body and remove the bracket.
Remove the accessory drive belt (article - Replacing the Renault Megan 2 accessory drive belt).
Jacking the engine and installing a prop.
We unscrew the bolts of the right support of the power unit and remove it
Having unfastened the latches, remove the top plastic cover
We unscrew the bolts securing the bracket of the right suspension support of the power unit to the cylinder block and remove the bracket
Turning the crankshaft clockwise by the bolt of the accessory drive pulley, we align the hole in the cylinder head with the hole on the camshaft pulley.
Using a TORX E14 head, unscrew the hole plug for installing the TDC position lock (shown on the removed engine).
The plug is located to the left of the flywheel in the cylinder block at the level of the 1st cylinder.
We screw the TDC position lock into the hole
In this position, the keyway on the crankshaft should be at the top.
