Remove the front wheel drive to replace the drive covers.
We also remove it when replacing the drive seals and when dismantling the gearbox
Preparing the car for work.
We install the car on a viewing hole or a lift.
Remove the engine protection (Fig. 1)
In order to remove the left front wheel drive, we drain the oil from the gearbox for this:
Cleaning the gearbox drain hole from below.
We substitute a container for draining about 4 liters under the box.
We take a four-sided key for 8 and unscrew the drain plug.
Drain the oil into a container.
After that, we tighten the drain plug.
Unscrew the front wheel bearing nut.
Remove the wheel.
With a 16 head, we unscrew the nut of the coupling bolt (Fig. 4) of the terminal connection of the steering knuckle and the ball joint pin, holding the bolt with a wrench of the same size.
Remove the bolt or knock it out with a soft metal drift.
With a powerful slotted screwdriver or a mounting spatula, we open the connection between the steering knuckle and the ball joint pin.
Pry off the terminal connection with a screwdriver
At the same time, swaying the steering knuckle from side to side behind the brake disc, we remove the ball joint pin from the hole in the steering knuckle.
We take the steering knuckle with the shock absorber strut to the side and remove the splined shank of the outer hinge housing from the wheel hub.
We clean the holder and the mating surface of the crankcase from dirt so that when the drive is removed, dirt does not get inside the gearbox.
With a head of 13, we unscrew the three bolts securing the holder of the inner hinge cover to the gearbox housing.
Remove the left wheel drive.
When installing the drive, carefully insert the three-stud rollers into the grooves of the inner hinge housing and attach the hinge cover holder to the gearbox housing.
We carry out the further installation of the drive in the reverse order.
During installation, do not apply force to the drive along its axis, directed in the direction opposite to the gearbox, as this may cause the rollers to come out rehspike from the grooves of the body
inner joint and damage to needle roller bearings.
If there is the slightest suspicion that the three-stud has come out of the grooves of the inner hinge housing, it is necessary to unscrew the bolts securing the holder of the inner hinge cover and, after making sure that the needle roller bearings are in good condition, repeat the installation of the drive.
After installing the left wheel drive, fill the gearbox with oil.
When removing the right wheel drive, it is not necessary to drain the oil from the gearbox.
Having unscrewed the hub bearing fastening nut and disconnected the ball joint from the steering knuckle, we remove the splined shank of the drive outer joint housing from the wheel hub, as shown above.
We shift the tip of the housing of the inner hinge of the right wheel drive from the splined shaft of the side gear of the differential
Remove the right wheel drive.
Install the right wheel drive in reverse order.
Connection torques when mounting actuators:
Bolt for fastening the holder of the cover of the inner joint of the drive of the left wheel to the crankcase of the box JH3 = 25 Nm;
Drain plug = 20 Nm;
Clamping nut of the steering knuckle and ball joint pin = 62 Nm;
Front wheel bearing nut = 280;
Wheel bolt = 105.
