Tie rod ends are replaced when there is play in the ball joint of the tip or when the tip itself is deformed
The tie rod ends on the right are different from those on the left.
You need to pay attention to the markings and the thread of the tip.
The thread of the right handpiece is left-handed and the thread of the left handpiece is right-handed.
To perform the work, you will need tools: keys for 16, 20, 21, you will also need a ball joint puller (Fig. 2).
Preparing the car for work.
We brake the car with a parking brake and set the stops under the rear wheels.
Weaken the wheel bolts of the corresponding wheel.
Raise the corresponding front side of the car and remove the wheel.
We measure the length of the free part of the thread of the steering rod, so as not to disturb the toe angle during assembly.
Loosen the tie rod end locknut
Unscrew the nut securing the tie rod end pin to the steering knuckle
Installing the tie rod end ball joint puller
Press out the finger
Remove the tie rod end pin from the steering knuckle hole
Unscrew the tip from the steering rod.
While unscrewing the steering tip, we count the turns in order to screw in the tip by the same number of turns during installation.
Installing the tip. If necessary, we do a wheel alignment check.
