We remove the heater elements for inspection or replacement.
In the previous article, we covered the removal of the heater control unit
In this article, we will consider the removal of the fan, the additional fan resistor and the removal of the heater core
Tools will be required: Torx keys T-20, T-30, T-50, socket head 13, plastic mounting blade, pliers
Removing the heater fan
To remove the fan, remove the instrument panel (article - How to remove the instrument panel Lada Largus)
We squeeze the two clamps of the wire block, disconnect the block from the fan motor connector.
Press the plastic retainer (shown by the arrow), turn the heater fan clockwise until it stops and remove the fan from the heater housing.
Install the heater fan in reverse order
Removing the additional heater fan resistor
An additional resistor allows the fan to turn on at four different speeds.
Remove the additional resistor for replacement.
Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery
By pressing the latches 1 of the wiring harness block, disconnect the block from the additional resistor of the heater fan.
Using the Torx T-20 key, unscrew the screw 2 fastening the resistor
Sliding the resistor up, remove it from the heater housing.
Install the additional heater fan resistor in reverse order.
Removing the heater core
When a coolant leak is detected through the heater radiator, we replace it.
Also, if the radiator cells are clogged and there is insufficient heat transfer, then the radiator is either washed or replaced (better replaced)
Preparing the car. Drain the coolant.
Removing the instrument cluster (article - Removing the instrument cluster of a Lada Largus car)
Removing the lining of the floor tunnel
On the left side of the console, we take out the piston for attaching the carpet to the bracket of the cross beam and bend the edge of the carpet.
With a 13 head, unscrew the two bolts of the lower fastening of the cross beam bracket (shown with the instrument panel removed)
Through the hole in the instrument panel (under the instrument cluster) with a 13 key, unscrew the two nuts of the upper fastening of the cross beam bracket
Remove the wiring harness from the holders located on the inside of the bracket and remove the crossbeam bracket.
Using a Torx T-20 wrench, unscrew the screw securing the pressure plate of the heater radiator tubes
Remove the tubes from the holes of the heater radiator tank
Residual coolant may leak from the pipes and radiator. Take steps to prevent it from contaminating the floor mat.
Rubber o-rings are installed on the tips of the tubes
Use the Torx T-20 key to wrap the radiator mounting screws
Press three latches
Remove the radiator from the heater housing.
Before installing the radiator, we install new rubber o-rings on the tips of the tubes.
Install the radiator in reverse order.
