Removing the power steering pump with a 1.6 engine
Preparing the car for the task
Remove the accessory drive belt
Draining the working fluid
Disconnect the wiring harness from the fluid pressure sensor in the power steering system
We loosen the clamp with pliers and slide it along the hose
Disconnect the supply pipe hose from the pump fitting
Use a 17 socket wrench to unscrew the bolt fitting and disconnect the pressure pipe from the pump
The connection is sealed with two copper washers. When assembling, you need to replace them
With a 14 key, unscrew the two pump mounting bolts and remove the pump
Install the pump in reverse order
We tighten the pump mounting bolts with a torque of 38-52 Nm
After assembly, we bleed the power steering system
Power steering pump repair
Fix the power steering pump using the special tool (fig. 8).
Use a special tool to prevent damage to the pump when mounting in a vise.
Pry up the clip tab using a flat head screwdriver.
Remove the clamp with a flat head screwdriver and hammer as shown in Figure 9
Disassemble the rest of the components in the order shown in Figure 10.
Assembly of power steering pump components
Put on the clip in the direction shown in Figure 11.
Make sure the eye of the clip is locked
Install the stuffing box in the front pump housing using a special tool and a nylon hammer (Fig. 12)
Place the blades in the rotor so that the rounded edges fit into the cam (fig. 13)
Install the cam ring in the pump front housing with the mark up (fig. 14)
After mounting the rear housing, turn the shaft by hand to check for smooth rotation.
Install the shaft into the front pump housing.
Install the pump and tighten the three mounting bolts.
Install the pressure sensor connector.
Install the drive belt.
Bleed the steering hydraulic circuit.
Check for leaks and leakage of hydraulic fluid. Check and install the steering wheel.
