Steering wheel

Steering column height and angle adjustment

Raise the lever (see the arrow in Fig. 1) and set the steering wheel to a comfortable position for you.

To lock the steering wheel in this position, lower the lever.

Renault Megane II Controls

To maintain traffic safety, make this adjustment only when the vehicle is stationary.

Do not keep the steering wheel turned all the way to the extreme position for a long time and do not leave the car with the engine stopped and the wheels turned out to the stop.

Never turn off the ignition on the slopes and in general while driving, this will lead to the stop of the hydraulic brake booster and electric power steering.

Sound and light alarm

Beep

To sound the horn, press the pad (A) of the steering wheel hub (see fig. 2).

Renault Megane II Controls

Light signaling

To signal with headlights, even if the car's exterior lights are off, push the stalk lever (1) towards you.

Emergency signal

Renault Megane II Controls

To turn on the hazard warning lights, press the button (see the arrow in Fig. 3).

Simultaneously, all four main direction indicators, as well as side repeaters, start flashing.

Turning on the alarm is necessary to warn other road users:

  • - about the need for an urgent stop in an inappropriate and even prohibited place;
  • - about a special situation while driving, as well as in all cases where the use of an alarm is mandatory according to traffic rules.

In some vehicle configurations, when braking very hard, the hazard warning lights may automatically turn on.

In this case, you can turn off the alarm by pressing the switch (2).

Indicators

To turn on the direction indicators, move the stalk lever (see. 1, fig. 2) in the plane of the steering wheel in the direction of the intended turn.

When driving on the motorway, it is often not necessary to turn the steering wheel enough to automatically return the stalk lever to neutral (0).

The turn signal lever has an intermediate position in which the switch must be held during maneuvering, for example when changing lanes.

When the switch lever is released, it automatically returns to position (6).

Outdoor lighting and signaling devices

Side light indicator

Turn the extreme ring of the lever (see 1, fig. 4) of the steering column switch to the position where the mark (4) is aligned with the corresponding symbol, the indicator lamp turns on, and at the same time the instrument panel lights turn on.

Adjust the brightness of the backlight by turning the knob (2).

Manually switching on low beam

Turn the end ring of the lever/stalk until the mark (4) aligns with the corresponding symbol.

When the dipped beam is switched on, the corresponding indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel.

Automatic operation mode (depending on the vehicle equipment)

When the engine is running, the dipped beam headlights turn on and off automatically, depending on the level of illumination outside the car, without affecting; stalk lever. switch (1) (position (0)). * Auto mode can be enabled or disabled; as you wish.

Renault Megane II Controls

To turn on the mode, hold down the button (3) for at least 4 seconds.

In confirmation of the inclusion of the mode, a double beep will sound, and a corresponding message will appear on the instrument panel;

- to disable the mode with the engine stopped, hold down the button (3) for at least 4 seconds.

An audible signal will confirm that the mode has been deactivated, and the instrument panel will display the message "Automatic light mode off".

Any action on the stalk lever (1) cancels the automatic control of the exterior lighting.

Before driving at night, Check the serviceability of the electrical equipment and adjust the direction of the headlights (if the loading of the passenger compartment or trunk of the car differs from the usual).

Fog lights

Turn the middle ring of the stalk lever (5) until the mark (6) aligns with the corresponding symbol, then release the ring.

The fog lights turn on only if the ring on the end of the switch is set to a certain position, at the same time the corresponding indicator lamp on the instrument panel lights up.

Rear fog light

Turn the middle ring of the stalk lever (5) until the mark (6) aligns with the corresponding symbol, then release the ring.

The lamp turns on if the external lighting devices are on, at the same time the corresponding indicator lamp on the instrument panel lights up.

Remember to turn off the rear fog light when it is not needed so as not to disturb other road users.

Note. The fog lamp is located on the driver's side.

Turn off outdoor lighting

Turn the ring (5) again, placing the mark (6) next to the symbol for the fog lights you want to turn off.

When you turn off the exterior lights, the fog lights and lights turn off at the same time.

When driving in fog, the automatic switching on of the headlights occurs irregularly, so it is possible and necessary to control the operation of the fog lamps by the glow of the control lamps on the instrument panel.

Electric headlight beam adjustment

In vehicles with this adjustment, the control (A) allows you to change the direction of the headlights up or down depending on the degree of loading of the car.

Renault Megane II Controls

Turn knob (A) down to lower the headlight beams, or up to raise them.

On other modifications, the adjustment is carried out automatically.

Windshield wipers and windshield washers

With the engine running or accessory mode, set the stalk lever (1) to the desired position (see fig. 6).

Renault Megane II Controls

In mode (B), after each working cycle, the wiper blades stop for a few seconds.

The duration of the pause between work cycles can be changed by turning the ring (2) (see Fig. 7).

Renault Megane II Controls

During the movement, any stop of the car leads to a decrease in the speed of the cleaner.

If the wipers were running at high speed, they will switch to low speed

As soon as the car starts moving, the wipers return to their original mode of operation.

Any actuation of the stalk lever (1) cancels the automatic control mode.

Vehicles equipped with automatic wipers

With the engine running or accessory mode, set the stalk lever (1) to position (A), then to position (B).

Now the windshield wipers will automatically switch to intermittent mode at the optimum speed when water drops appear on the windshield.

The duration of the pause between work cycles can be changed by turning the ring (2).

Be sure to return the lever to position (A) each time before starting the engine to return to automatic intermittent operation.

Modes C and D are the same as on non-automatic models.

If the wiper arms become stuck (e.g. frozen to the windshield), the power supply to the wipers is automatically cut off.

Windshield and headlight washers

With the ignition on, pull the stalk lever (1) towards you.

With headlights off

A short press activates one wiper stroke.

A long press turns on three windshield wipers in a row, with the last wipe after a short (1-2 second) pause.

With headlights on

The same as when the headlights are off, the headlight washer will turn on in addition to the wiper.

In cold weather, check that the wiper blades are not frozen to the glass, this can cause the wiper motor to overheat.

Keep your brushes in good condition. They need to be changed as soon asa noticeable deterioration in the quality of glass cleaning (about once a year).

Clean your windshield regularly.

If you turn off the ignition while the wipers are running (the lever is in position (A), the wipers will stop at a random position.

  • To turn on the ignition without starting the engine, insert the card into the slot and, without pressing the pedals, press the start button and wait a few seconds, the ignition will turn on.
