The speed limiter is a device that allows you to set the maximum speed

It can be useful, for example, when constantly driving only in the city or in places where a speed limit has been introduced (freeway), etc.

Speed system (cruise control) Renault Megane 2

The use of this system is possible when the speed exceeds 30 km/h.

Management

The system's main switch is located on the headlight adjustment panel (fig. 1), other elements are shown in fig. 2.

Speed Maintain and Limit Controls

This orange warning light illuminates on the instrument panel to indicate that the speed limiter has been activated.

When the function is enabled, the message "Limiter" and a dash appear on the instrument panel.

Driving while cruise control is in operation

When the speed limit value is memorized by the system, driving is the same as normal until the speed limit is reached.

After that, any action on the accelerator pedal will not allow exceeding the set speed limit, except in emergency cases.

Driver activation:

Press the side switch (1) on the side marked with Speed system (cruise control) Renault Megane 2

The control lamp on the instrument panel will light up, and, depending on the vehicle equipment, the on-board computer or matrix display will switch to the "Speed Limit" mode.

Starting speed limit mode

At a constant speed (starting at 30 km/h), press the switch (2) on the steering wheel (see fig. 2).

The speed value will be saved.

Change the speed limit value:

You can change the speed limit value by successive short presses or long presses:

  • - button (2) to increase the speed value;
  • - button (5) to decrease the speed value.

Exceeding the specified speed limit in an emergency

At any time, you can exceed the set speed limit value by depressing the accelerator pedal sharply to the stop (overcoming resistance).

All the time the vehicle is moving above the set speed limit, the value of the set speed limit is displayed on the instrument panel display.

When there is no longer a need for more speed, release the accelerator pedal, and as soon as the current speed drops below the previously set limit, the speed limiter will immediately resume operation.

Sometimes the limiter is not able to maintain the set speed limit (for example, when the car is driving on a steep descent), the value of the set speed limit flashes on the instrument panel.

Shutting down the system

The speed limit system is disabled when pressed (see fig. 2):

  • - buttons (4) - in this case, the speed value remains in the system memory, and the message “value stored in memory” appears on the instrument panel display;
  • - buttons (1) - in this case, the speed value does not remain in the system memory, and the control lamp on the instrument panel goes out, confirming the deactivation of the function.

Retrieving a saved speed limit

If the value of the set speed limit has been saved in memory, it can be restored by holding the button (3) pressed until the message "Speed limiter" appears on the display.

Speed controller

If road conditions allow (e.g. when driving in a steady state or driving on a motorway), the cruise control will make it possible to maintain a certain speed, i.e. the speed of the car will be maintained by the speed controller.

The controller can maintain any vehicle speed over 30 km/h.

The regulator is controlled by buttons located on the steering wheel (see Fig. 2).

System warning light under keeping the speed limit

The control lamp (6, see Fig. 3) lights up green on the instrument panel, indicating that the cruise control system has been activated.

When the controller is turned on, the instrument panel display will show the message "control" and a dash.

Enable

Press the side switch (1) on the side marked with the "Speed controller" symbol.

The control lamp on the instrument panel will light up, and, depending on the vehicle equipment, the on-board computer or matrix display will switch to the “Speed controller” mode.

Setting the speed value while moving

At a constant speed (over 30 km/h) and with the appropriate gear engaged (for vehicles with a manual gearbox), press button (2): the current speed will be stored in the system's memory.

After memorizing the set speed, you can release the accelerator pedal, the speed will be maintained automatically.

Change set speed

The vehicle speed maintained by the governor can be changed by making several short presses or one long press:

  • - button (2) to increase the speed value;
  • - to the button (5) to decrease the speed value. Exceeding the set speed in an emergency

The set speed can be exceeded at any time by pressing the accelerator pedal.

As long as the current speed exceeds the set speed, the value of the set vehicle speed set by the cruise control system will flash on the instrument panel.

After it is no longer necessary to exceed the set speed, release the accelerator pedal: the car will automatically return to the set speed.

Sometimes it is not possible to maintain the set speed (for example, when driving on a steep slope), the value of the set speed flashes on the instrument panel.

Shutting down the system

Speed limiting system turns off when pressed:

  • - brake pedals;
  • - clutch pedal or when moving the sector lever to the neutral position (for vehicles with automatic transmission);
  • - buttons (4) - in this case, the value of the set speed is stored in the system memory;
  • - button (1) - in this case, the speed value is stored in the system memory;

In the first three cases, the instrument panel will display the message "Value stored".

The control lamp on the instrument panel goes out, thus warning the system to turn off.

Retrieving the stored speed setpoint

If the speed value is stored in the memory, it can be called up by pressing the button (3) until the message "Speed controller" appears on the instrument display, provided that the vehicle speed exceeds 30 km/h.

This optional system is designed to make driving easier.

However, this system does not replace driver skill, nor does it replace the need to obey speed limits and safe driving rules
