Usually, oil baffle caps are changed when there is increased oil consumption, accompanied by a large emission of smoke from the muffler
And also when the engine overheats, when the valve seals lose the required elasticity
We set the crankshaft to the TDC position of the pistons of the 1st and 4th cylinders (see "Checking the condition and replacing the timing belt").
In this position of the shaft, we change the oil deflector caps of the valves of the 1st and 4th cylinders.
Remove the camshaft (see "Removing the camshaft").
Remove the tappet with the adjusting washer from the socket of the cylinder head.
We unscrew the spark plug, ignition of the 1st cylinder and insert a soft metal bar (about 8 mm in diameter) through the spark plug hole between the piston bottom and the valve plate on which we change the cap.
We install a bar of a device for cracking valves on the studs of the cylinder head and fasten it with nuts to the outer studs.
Installing the valve dryer.
We rest the heel of the cracker against the valve plate, and insert the hook lever into the groove located on the back side of the bar.
We press on the lever of the cracker and compress the springs
Retrieve crackers with tweezers.
Remove the plate with springs
Using special pliers or a cap removal tool, remove the oil baffle cap from the valve guide
Remove the cap from the tongs
We apply a layer of engine oil to the working edge of the new cap and install the cap on the valve stem
Press the cap onto the valve guide through the mandrel.
As a mandrel, you can use a high head of 12.
We assemble the valve mechanism in reverse order.
Remove the rod from the candle hole.
After assembling the valve mechanism, we strike the end of the valve with a hammer through the mandrel and from soft metal, so that the crackers are securely fixed in the grooves of the valve stem.
Lubricate the tappet and valve adjusting washer with engine oil and install it in the cylinder head socket.
Then we repeat these operations for the other valve of the 1st cylinder and then for both valves of the 4th cylinder.
After that, turning the crankshaft 180 ° (TDC of the pistons of the 2nd and 3rd cylinders), we similarly change the oil baffle caps of the valves of the 2nd and 3rd cylinders.
We assemble the valve mechanism in reverse order.
